Exposure to Blood-Borne Pathogens

  • An evaluation of the exposure incident.
  • Collection and testing of employee’s blood for HIV, HBV, HCV.
  • Collection and testing of source individuals blood if status in not already known.
  • Informing employee of results of all employee and source individual testing.
  • Counseling
  • Post exposure prophylaxis when medically indicated, and recommended by the USPHS at the time of the exposure.
  • Evaluation of any reported illness related to the exposure incident.
