The St. Mary Regional Cancer Center participates in national clinical trials as an affiliate with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. St. Mary decides which trials to participate in based on which are most likely to benefit local patients.
The St. Mary Regional Cancer Center offers clinical trials for cancers including breast cancer, lymphoma, non-small cell lung cancer, prostate cancer, sarcoma, gastrointestinal, gynecological cancer, leukemia, and small-cell lung cancer. A trial also is being conducted for treatment of depression in cancer patients.
The studies have strict requirements, and not everyone qualifies. Generally, if a patient at St. Mary Regional Cancer Center qualifies, a member of the care team will discuss the option with him or her. But patients also are welcome to bring up the possibility with their physicians.
