
St. Mary Medical Center offers complete diabetes education and targeted nutrition counseling to a wide variety of patients.
Diabetes Workshops
Our Diabetes Education Workshops are for newly diagnosed diabetic or those who need a review of diabetes self-management. Few diseases call for as much self-care as diabetes. And, few diseases have so much information patients must learn to successfully manage it. The workshops provide information that is easily adaptable to your lifestyle. Information will be provided on nutrition, medications, home glucose monitoring, exercise, and avoiding long and short-term complications. The workshops are facilitated by certified diabetes educators, dietitians and other health care professionals.
Where: St Mary Medical Center Mother Joseph Room.
Time: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Date: Second Wednesday of each month. (Note: dates are subject to change.)
One-On-One Counseling
Individual diabetes counseling is very helpful for specific areas in your diabetes routine that you may find challenging. Many new diabetics or those having problems managing their diabetes may need individual counseling. We focus individual teaching on how to use your medications, blood sugar testing, meal planning and more.

The workshops and individual counseling require a physician referral. The cost is covered by most insurance plans including Medicare.
